Math teacher gifts
1. Thank you cards
Writing a thank you card to show appreciation is an incredibly meaningful gift. You can pick up a thank you card at the store or create a DIY version. Fill it with a heartwarming thank you message and make the teacher’s day. Use some of my messages for helping growth or kindness.
You can also take it up a notch and pick up a cool 3D, pop up thank you card (or make one!).
2. Fun socks
If the teacher has a fun sense of humor, they’ll love some silly socks with fun phrases on the soles. Some say “if you can read this, this teacher is off duty” and others have “I’m a Math teacher, of course I have problems.”
3. Teaching aids
Educational materials and aids are always helpful for teachers, especially in the classroom with younger kids. Math isn’t just numbers, it can be visual too. So, different shapes can be great when teaching geometry and circular magnets that can break apart are amazing for explaining fractions.
4. Ties
Ties make great gifts for male teachers! And being a Math teacher, why not have some fun with it. How does a pi tie sound? Or having a tie with a bunch of volume formulas on it?
5. Extra rulers and protractors
My mom always walked around the classroom, checking everyone’s work. When it came to measuring lines and angles, she would always have to look for her ruler and protractor. So, gifting a couple extras won’t hurt! Protractors are pretty inexpensive and geometry sets would always be used in a Math class.
6. Stickers!
Stickers are great for encouraging kids and celebrating their hard work. There are Math specific stickers that are sure to make every teacher happy. Some are brightly colored, ideal for younger kids and these are more suited to older students:
7. Desk decor
Cute signs, trinkets and figurines can be wonderful Math teacher gifts they can keep on their desk. It can be super simple or fun and whimsical. Of course, you can also get your hands into a DIY craft project or get a fun sign like this one.
8. Math teacher shirts
Once you know the size the teacher usually wears, how about getting a Math inspired shirt as an appreciation gift? You can order a customized one with the teacher’s name. Or pick up fun ones that say “stay positive |x|” or “this tshirt speaks volumes” with volume equations. Or why the dinosaurs should have learned math.
9. Math puzzles
Puzzles and mind games are great gifts for math lovers. And I’m sure your kid’s Maths educators would love them! Books with sudoku puzzles, brain games, wordsearch, crossword and mind puzzles can be fun. Puzzle boxes would also make unique gifts for math teachers.
10. Abacus
An abacus is an ancient counting tool that became popular once again with viral videos of kids doing rapid addition. Wouldn’t it be an interesting gift for your favorite math teacher?
11. Drinks
Teachers are people too! They’ll definitely appreciate coupons and gift cards to their favorite joints like Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts or even a local microbrewery. You can also pick up an inexpensive bottle of sparkling wine, some fancy Nespresso capsules or K-cups.
Those are my short and sweet suggestions that would make great gifts for math teachers. Gift giving is such a beautiful gesture especially when you put thought into what the teacher would enjoy.
Plus shopping for gifts is just as fun as receiving them. Ha!
