Before getting baby Christmas gifts
If you are not one of the parents, it’s important to check in with them about what’s okay to get their baby. Parents’ preferences should be high priority when getting gifts for their kids. If they want to have a low waste home or minimize exposure to plastics, that should be respected and admired.
So giving the parents a heads up of what you are planning is always a good idea. It shows them you are a supportive part of their tribe! And, how beautiful is that?
Also, I don’t think any parent wants 10 Christmas outfits for their little ones to outgrow in a couple weeks, especially if they are supporters of slow consumption. So, a quick phone call or text would be great.
Baby Christmas gift ideas
1. Gift set
This box of goodies is perfect for newborns and really young babies. It comes with soft, bug-themed wrist rattles, an elephant rattle toy, onesie, and a soft blankie.
It pretty much has a little bit of everything for baby and makes for great newborn stocking stuffers.
2. Rattle socks
Although wrist rattles come with the gift set above, you can also get some separate along with rattle socks. These are also bug-themed and are high contrast so they’ll definitely be fun for the little one.
3. Customized blanket
A soft, knitted cotton blanket would be a nice gift for baby. And, having their name embroidered on it would turn the blankie into a sweet, keepsake for the kid.
This one is such a thoughtful, personalized gift.
For a flannel customized blanket, here’s a great choice. There are tons of cute options with this one and you can add the baby’s name all over the blankie.
4. Cute character clothes
If the parents love a great Disney theme, get the baby cute clothes with a fun character on them. How adorable is this Winnie the Pooh set? It comes with a bodysuit, pants, bib and cap. It’s so precious!
For parents who are big fans of The Nightmare before Christmas, do you think they’d love this bodysuit, pants and cap set? It does say ‘nightmare before naptime’ on the suit and not everyone would find the humor in that. So, maybe check-in with mom to gauge if she’ll find it funny.
5. Customized sweater
I mean if we’re customizing the blanket, why not do it for sweaters too?
This one is very sweet! You can choose from a ton of colors, add the baby’s name for embroidering and select different designs. The company has lots of options.
6. Christmas outfits
For baby’s first Christmas, get him or her an adorable, holiday themed outfit. You can go for dresses for the girlies, suits for the boys and costumes for either. There are so many options out there too.
This one is perfect for the sweetest baby girl.
And here’s a great one for a baby boy.
7. Snuggle sound machine
Here’s another fun idea for a baby Christmas gift: the Fisher-Price soothe ‘n snuggle otter. It’s actually a plushie with a built-in sound machine that can move a little to mimic breathing.
It’s a great cuddle buddy for the little tyke.
8. Teething toys
We all know everything goes in baby’s mouth so teething toys are practical gifts for them. This multi-sensory one is a wonderful option since it rattles, twists, and has textured silicone balls for chewing. It’s pretty durable too.
Here’s another one that’s a bit more Christmas themed!
9. Pacifiers
Besides teething toys, pacifiers are both functional and creative gifts to bring in some holiday spirit. I mean how absolutely positively adorable is this silicone pacifier with a soft reindeer attachment?
Again, check in with the parents to see if they are pro-pacifier before getting it as a gift.
You can also get regular non-holiday pacifiers and include this customizable pacifier clip too. It’s really cute and you can have the baby’s name included on it.
10. Activity mats
Activity mats are such great tools for helping kids with their hand-to-eye coordination, motor skills and overall development. You can find so many variations of activity mats online to choose from.
I really like this Baby Einstein one that’s perfect for tummy time, laying around, and for playing with music, flashcards, and more.
11. Books
Whether it’s crinkle or regular ones, books are a great Christmas present for baby. They can certainly enjoy them for many months. For younger babies, this fish inspired crinkle book is fun, sensory heaven.
And, for the older babies, board books like this one are great for reading and working on their talking and listening skills. Plus, they can have great bonding time with their parents while reading together.
12. Plushies
Super soft, squishy plushies are also wonderful first Christmas gifts for baby. You can go for really fuzzy security blankets or fun stuffed toys with holiday themes.
This gingerbread set comes with musical and sensory toys like Santa, Christmas tree, and more. It’s fun and helps with motor skills and curiosity! Note, it’s better for babies over 6 months.
Those are my ideas for baby Christmas gifts. I’m sure you can find some sweet inspiration here. There are lots of customizable options too for that added personal touch.
