Agar Agar Jelly with Pomegranate Seeds

This refreshing sweet treat is a delightful vegan jelly that only requires four ingredients and a little love.

  • cup water
  • cup agar agar strands or 1 tsp agar agar powder
  • cup sugar
  • 4 tbsp pomegranate seeds


  • Add the agar agar strands to the water and leave to soak and re-hydrate for 30 – 60 minutes. Skip this step if you are using agar agar powder.
  • Bring the water to a boil on medium heat and stir continuously to prevent the strands (or powder) from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
  • Continue boiling until the water is clear and everything has dissolved. This can take 10 minutes to 30 minutes.
  • Add the pomegranate seeds and sugar to the liquid.
  • Stir to dissolve the sugar.
  • Pour the liquid into molds.
  • Stir while cooling to distribute the seeds throughout the jelly.
  • Chill in the fridge for at least two hours.
  • Serve as is or flip the jelly, slice and serve.
