Easy Homemade Bread Recipe: Rolls

This fool-proof homemade bread recipe will be your go-to for light, soft bread rolls. They are delicious, dairy-free and easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 tsp dry yeast (half an 11 g sachet)
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp oil (like coconut, olive, grapeseed)
  • 4.5 cups flour
  • 2 tbsp herbs (like rosemary, chives)

Instructions

Activate Yeast

  • Dissolve sugar in warm water.
  • Add yeast.
  • Leave for 10 – 15 minutes for the yeast to activate.

Dough

  • Add salt
  • Whisk eggs and oil together.
  • Mix with the activated yeast.
  • Add herbs.
  • Add the flour and combine to form a soft dough.
  • Coat with oil and cover.
  • Leave in a warm space for 45 minutes to rise.

Rolls

  • Punch down the dough.
  • Make small dough balls.
  • Place on oiled trays and cover.
  • Leave in warm space for another 45 minutes to rise.

Baking

  • Preheat oven at 375 degrees Farenheit.
  • Bake the rolls for 15 – 20 minutes (until the tops are golden brown).
  • Serve hot or completely cool and freeze for later.

Notes

For a more nutritious bread, use warm milk in place of warm water.
