Red and Blue
You don’t have to be from the U.S. to celebrate fourth of July. Do you really need a reason to make a fun drink and have a good time? I think not!
This recipe highlights the red and blue of the North American flag to celebrate the country’s independence from colonial rule. It’s a patriotic 4th of July cocktail for sure.
Grenadine has that vivid red color that’s perfect for this recipe. It’s made with pomegranate and that flavor really comes through in this drink. If you are a big fan of pomegranates like me, you’ll love it.
Blue curaçao is my go-to liqueur for any and everything blue to blue-green. It has its own citrusy taste that complements the grenadine so well.
Those are the colored elements. But what about the alcohol?
To be honest, you can use almost anything you have on hand. I used vodka here. And I may have accidentally made the drink quite strong. Whoops!
What a way to get the party started, am I right?
The grenadine and blue curaçao liqueurs are usually sweet so there is no need for any syrup or sweeteners. But, for a fun white element (in keeping with the American flag), you can coat the rim of your glass with white sugar. It’ll pull all the colors together! It’s not necessary though, the drink is beautiful and sweet on its own.

4th of July Cocktail Ingredients
You can get this grenadine from Amazon. It’s sweet and wonderful. Otherwise, you can make your own grenadine before your 4th of July cocktail party using pomegranates and sugar (it’s simple to make!).
Here’s the grenadine I used.
As for blue curaçao, you can use the same brand.
And if you are looking for glasses, aren’t these stunning?
