Questions to ask yourself for self growth

Self growth is all about improving ourselves for a greater sense of overall wellbeing. Improvements can be physical, mental, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual. And each aspect feeds the other. For instance, exercising more has wonderful benefits for our mental and emotional wellbeing.

Expanding our skills, mindset and resilience are just part of the self growth journey. So, here are some questions to ask yourself:

Exercise

  1. What is your current fitness level?
  2. Are you happy with this?
  3. What are your favorite physical activities to do that you don’t consider exercise? (swimming, snorkeling, biking, hiking, dancing, yoga, tai chi, qi gong, spin class, etc)
  4. How can you cram more of your favorite physical activities into your week?
  5. Can you invite your loved ones to join you when doing these activities?
  1. Have you noticed changes to your physical, mental and emotional health when you do these activities?
  2. Can you describe these changes?
  3. Do you feel pain and tightness in any part of your body?
  4. Does your nervous system feel regulated or dysregulated?
  5. What can you do to ease pain and regulate your nervous system?

Diet

  1. Is your diet nutritious and healthy?
  2. What foods can you add that’ll make your diet better?
  3. What foods should you remove from your diet to make it better?
  4. Is your body getting the right amounts of vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, and fiber?
  5. Does your doctor recommend any supplements you should take?
  1. What small changes can you make to your meals that will cause your health to improve?
  2. Do you drink enough water?
  3. How are your results for important blood tests?
  4. Is your doctor happy with your results?
  5. Is there anything you can do to improve them?

At home

  1. Are you getting enough sleep?
  2. What can you do to improve the quantity and quality of your sleep?
  3. Are you exposing your body to enough sunlight?
  4. Do you feel safe and comfortable at home?
  5. What can you do (or get) to feel more comfortable?

Connections

  1. Do you have a good support system?
  2. Who are the people closest to you that make you feel happy, joyful and positive?
  3. Have you told them how much you appreciate them? (I’ve got a bunch of thank you messages if you want to send them something sweet)
  4. How often do you communicate and get together with them?
  5. Can you nurture these beautiful connections even more?
  1. Is there anyone in your life that makes you feel hurt, upset, or judged? (energy vampires)
  2. What do you do to protect your mental health and inner peace when you’re around them?
  3. What else can you do? (create stronger boundaries, go no contact, grey rock)
  4. Can you forgive them and release your resentment?
  5. What will it take for you to come to that place?

  2. What topics, events, and situations make you excited and passionate?
  3. What did you love doing as a child?
  4. How does play look like now that you are older?
  5. Can you incorporate some of these answers into your every day life to increase the joy and happiness you feel?

Success

  1. What is your definition of success?
  2. How do you celebrate small wins?
  3. How do you acknowledge and celebrate big milestones?
  4. Do you feel like you deserve your success?
  5. How much is enough (money, assets, accomplishments)?
